I believe in Miracles...

A man from our church had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital last Sunday. After getting the results back from the tests that had been done, we all knew things didn't sound too hopeful for Mr. Coomer. Two of the three main arteries to his heart are blocked, 1/3 of his heart is dead-and he's not strong enough to endure the surgery. Todd and my dad went to visit him last Wednesday, he looked pretty good and seemed okay. Things kind of went downhill from there, to my understanding, and on Saturday the doctors had decided there wasn't really anymore they could do for him. That morning they quit giving him the medication that was supposedly keeping him alive, and the doctors told his family he would go quickly. They all stayed by his bedside on Saturday, Sunday.....I went to visit him last night with my mom and dad. He was talking and back to his old self!!! Things are not all better for him, but he's alive-I guess the Lord wasn't ready for him yet. We know it was a direct answer to prayer and we are so thankful the Lord saw fit to spare his life. Mr. Coomer told us last night he could see two men standing beside him, (at some point on one of those days when they thought he was about gone) and he could hear music playing. He said he knew it wasn't a dream...he really felt he was "about to go", but the Lord let him stay. We don't know what will happen in the days ahead, but we know the Lord gave him some more time.

Another "miracle".....Todd got a letter from Johnson Controls, his employer that laid him off over a year ago!!! There are some catches to the deal...so it's not all great news, but it was a shock to us...and we were still happy. It does kind of complicate things a little with Todd's school and all...it's hard to know exactly what to do...we just have to pray for wisdom. We know we don't want to jeopardize this training!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Time flies when you're.....

BUSY!!! :-) I cannot believe that this month is about gone!! It's almost time for Todd to register for classes for next semester. It is so crazy to me how quickly the time is passing. I will think about blogging, and then before I know it another week has passed!

I was trying to change my background....I don't like how this one turned out, but I don't feel like devoting anymore time to it right now. I will change it soon!

Sarah has decided, I think it has just started this week, that she doesn't like school anymore. She informed me on Tuesday she didn't like school and she didn't think she'd do it anymore!! Funny...my dad always gets a kick out of reminding me that I wanted to quit kindergarten on the first day- I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well she was doing-I guess I expected more of a challenge at the beginning. She does okay once we get started, although, she doesn't like writing in cursive!

I don't think there are anymore "updates". I just wanted to say hello and update the blog. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! :-)

M.I.A ??

Hard to believe it's already October...and then now here it is 14 days into the month...and I haven't blogged since the 1st. Todd had his fall break from school last Monday and Tuesday-we went to Indiana to visit friends and just took the opportunity to get away. We left early Sunday morning and went to Ellettsville (outside of Bloomington) to Bro. Kevin Albert's church-we enjoyed that so much. We spent the night with friends, Steve and Melinda, and then headed to Hoosier Hills on Monday. Todd did a few odd jobs around the camp, trying to get it ready for the winter months. The kids enjoyed so much running around, playing and riding on the golf cart at camp. I got to visit with Mrs. Day, a lady who worked at camp for many years-it was nice to see her and visit. We enjoyed our trip! Sometimes it's nice just to change up the routine.

We got home on Tuesday night and the kids got to see my parent's-they were going through withdrawals...they hadn't seen them since Thursday night because my parents, sister and her girls went to see my other sister in NC. I hated that we couldn't go there...

On Wednesday, we got back into the swing of things. It has been busy since then...I guess that's why I haven't updated the blog.

This week is Todd's midterms. He passed his EPA certification today...I was so relieved! :-) PRAISE THE LORD!!!

I go back to the doctor on Friday. I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going. I know it's only going to seem to go by quicker once we get into the holidays and all...oh well...the end is always the hardest, so it will be nice to have some "distractions"!

Hope all is well with everyone! Have a good week!

October already?

Fall has come to the Bluegrass state, at least for today (and the next few days). I think it's in the 60's outside. We saw the big cool down was coming and I was PLANNING to get out clothes and have them ready...needless to say, I didn't make it. So, as I sit here typing, I need to be digging through clothes-the change of season is always a challenge for me!

Today in school, Spencer was working on word problems. We were using straws and I gave him three straws and said, "Sarah had 3 pieces of gum, and you gave her three more. How many pieces does she have?" His response was, "I wouldn't give her three pieces"... How typical. It was funny, though. After that, I quit using them as examples-too distracting!

There was another funny the other day. Shelby was reading for Health and it was going over manners regarding older people and then manners for boys w/girls. I am glad they go over these..it is nice to teach them to be respectful, and it's things I may not think of in day to day living-until we're out somewhere and one of the kids runs over an old person....you know. It told how you should give up your seat for an older person and you should never contradict them (I forget the others right now). At lunch, we were talking about these manners, and Shelby was informing the others of what to do....she says how you should always give your chair to an older person, and you should never argue with older people, like Mommy, or ME!!! She kills me....I should've seen that coming....she thinks she's one of the parents.

Over the weekend, Todd and I took 3 teens to the retreat at Hoosier Hills. We had a good time. The speaker was really good, Ray McCormick-I'd never heard him before, but I really enjoyed his messages.

Todd has a break from classes on Mon. and Tues. The week after that he has mid-terms-I can't believe it's going by so quick! Today he had CPR training in one of his classes...it's always good to have a review on that-especially w/kids! He had to try out the maneuvers on the kids when he came home....of course, they loved that. They always enjoy playing with Daddy. He gets everyone so wound up!

I guess I better get busy going through clothes! Hope everyone is having a good day!
