It's been a little bit....

I've been away from the blogs and all for a little bit....the weather here has been beautiful-and we've been taking advantage of it. The first nice day-last Saturday-we spent the whole day outside, working in the yard, going to yard sales....Sarah had a flare up with her allergies and woke up w/swollen eyes Sunday morning. She ended up taking a round of steroids-now Spencer is having a little trouble, which is unusual for him. Nevertheless, we've enjoyed playing/being outside.

Todd is taking his final exams this week...the kids and I have 12 days of school left! Woo hoo!!!

I happened to look over my last post, which seems like forever ago....I don't know what I was thinking when I posted my age....I am no longer 30...for the record, I am 31. Confession is good for the soul...actually I don't know what I was thinking about when I posted that....I guess the time passes so quickly it's just hard for me to keep up with! ;-)

In other news, Savannah has started laughing....it's so sweet...her little smile just melts my heart. She is such a sweet baby.

Just wanted to post quickly, since it's been a while...we are all alive and well...and busy! :-)

P - Pet Peeve: Todd and I were just talking about this the other day...we passed by a sign at a produce market that said Tomatoe's and how much they were per pound. Really? This is all that's coming to mind...I asked Todd to name another one...I guess there's too many to pin point just one..... :-)
Q - Quotes you like: I'm drawing a blank right now...I like the motto from the camp where Todd and I met-It's easier to build boys and girls than to repair men and women...Is. 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Psalms 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

We watched a new episode of the Duggars tonight. I loved it! It was during the ice storm...they were w/out power for 8 days. They also told that Josh, the oldest who got married a while back, and his wife are expecting. They also met Kirk Cameron at a film festival where they watched Fireproof. Oh well...it's getting late-better get to bed.
Hope everyone is having a good week!

The weekend

The girls, Seth and I were on our way to Target Saturday-Sarah was asking Seth to point to his eyes, then his nose, etc. Everything she asked him he would try to repeat, then he would point to that part. When we pulled into Target's parking lot, Sarah says, "Mommy, Seth has been learning all his body pieces." Good to know where your "body pieces" are! ;-)

We didn't do much this weekend-Todd worked in the basement some on Saturday, my mom cut my hair, went to church on Sunday and the funeral home-that's about it for the weekend...nothing too exciting. Sunday was a beautiful day...it starting raining last night, but the biggest part of the day was so pretty and warm! Today it's cold and cloudy...yuck.

Last night before church, the kids were looking out the back door into the neighbor's yard. Sarah saw something she thought was a rabbit-it was a ground hog! All of the bigger kids were gathered around watching him. He was back out today, and again, they were all gathered around the door. They thought it was hilarious when he stood up on his back feet! The dogs could smell him...they were pacing up and down the fence. I hope he stays in the neighbor's yard-his chances may not be too good against 3 dogs....

Better go...I think Miss Savannah is getting hungry!

You have got to be kidding me!!!!!

Today, I went to work. We were all taking a "field trip" out to the new office where the doctors and most of the staff are moving to (about 40 minutes from where I live). Thankfully, the department that my mom and I work in, is moving closer to our house (about 5 minutes away). I drove our beast SUV, since more people could ride in there. We tour the office-it was really nice. We load back into the car and we are all talking-I see some people walking out on my side, so instead of backing out like I normally would and cutting the wheel, I decide to back straight up-I'm looking over my right shoulder-never see the PORSCHE sitting over my left shoulder. A PORSCHE...as in like costs more than my house!!!!! I was sick. Thank the Lord it didn't dent the car-only made rub marks. We got the estimate a little bit ago-$932...700 bucks for labor!!! Really? I'm in the wrong line of work!!! Honestly, I could buff the marks out myself!!!!! Oh well, the good news is we can turn it into our insurance and it won't cost us anything. Another good thing is it shouldn't raise our rates according to our agent. So it stinks that I was careless and hit a Porsche (of all things), but Praise the Lord it wasn't a person, no one was hurt, and it will be paid for by our insurance. I am also thankful for a sweet husband who hasn't said one snide remark or one ugly thing-he's been so sweet. Would I be the same way if it were reversed? Probably not....I'm making a mental note, in case next time it's him.

Remember to pray for Stellan over at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/. I'm not a follower of this blog, but I do stop by occasionally. He's a very sick five month old-he's been in intensive care for 13 days w/heart trouble, first diagnosed while he was still in the womb. It's a miracle he's even alive. Stop by if you get a chance and see his sweet little face, and most of all, pray!

Busy week.....

I know, what else is new, right? It has been a busy week...as if the rest of the time we are lying around eating bon bons. I'm trying to think back to the beginning of the week...on Monday, we all went bowling w/my sister and her two daughters-it is spring break for them this week. Our kids had never gone before. We had bumpers in the one lane for the little kids (6 and under), and they even had this thing that looks like a slide for the bowling ball...I guess I've never watched little kids bowl before. Seth got so excited watching the pins fall (at first) the newness wore off...especially the closer we got to nap time! You wouldn't think one game of bowling could last so long-it doesn't help when the equipment keeps malfunctioning. I think the kids enjoyed themselves-it was nice spending time w/their cousins. Everyone was hungry and the babies were tired by the time we left...we grabbed some lunch, ate and put the little ones to bed!

Tuesday started off like a regular day-Todd headed to class. I knew I had a busy day ahead-I was just finishing up getting dressed when I thought I heard the front door open. It was Todd-he'd gone into class, but his teacher didn't show up. It really worked out well for me that day-the end of the month I try to have all of my work done...it's better if I have all the money posted for that month. Todd told me to go on into the office (which is always easier) and he took over! I really appreciated that-it is a big job to take over w/the kids and do school and all. That took so much off of me-I'm so thankful Todd and I can work together-we make a good team. He's such a good dad/husband. I love him to death....

Wednesday was a regular day. I knew I had a man coming to measure for carpet that afternoon, so after lunch the kids and I were doing some last minute straightening before he was supposed to be here. The carpet man came-he wasn't here very long at all-we ordered our new carpet for the basement! Woo Hoo-I'm so excited!!! We've lived in this house for almost 9 yrs ( it will be this summer) and this is our first major renovation. It is exciting to be able to fix some things up and change it-especially since we need the bedroom space so badly!
My dad called at about quarter 'til 5 and asked if anyone had been down to their house and taken their computer monitor. We (Todd, me, my sister and her husband) are always in and out of my parent's house (me and Todd probably are more than my sister)-we all have keys-I don't usually go and help myself to things w/out discussing it w/them....I thought it was odd he'd ask about their computer monitor. He had been to the property and when he got home, their side door was open and the monitor was gone. I told him it sounded to me like someone had broken in. I think his first thoughts were that someone was playing an April Fool's joke on him, but he quickly realized it wasn't a joke. Someone had kicked the door 'til it broke free, then came in and helped themselves to the monitor, another computer pcu, it looked like they were attempting to unhook a DVD player (we don't know if that's when my dad got home and scared them), and they found out today they got a credit card out of my mom's drawer. She had never activated the card, so they had to from my parent's phone before they left (I guess). The credit card company called this morning to alert my parents of some suspicious purchases...like one for over $600!!!!! Thankfully, my parents won't have to pay for it! Nothing like this has ever happened to them in their 39 years of marriage-it has bothered me so much and it's not even my house or my things. It's just such a weird feeling knowing someone was in their home and had access to all of their personal belongings and business! My parents haven't seemed too upset...I think it's bothered my oldest sister (in NC) and me more than it has them!

Today was absolutely gorgeous outside! We did take a walk this afternoon late after Todd got home from school. It was cut short by Miss Savannah-she was getting hungry.

We are on lesson 141 tomorrow (out of 170)!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT! :-) Speaking of school...here's something funny and then I better go. I have discussed the difficulties of teaching phonics and the confusion that comes into play when things aren't always pronounced the way they should be...what can I say...we are all guilty of it (in this part of the country anyhow). Today, Spencer was doing a paper and he was supposed to add a suffix to the root word and re-write the word. His choices were -ing, -ed, -en, -er...one of the words he had to add the suffix to was run. I read his new word-it was runnen. I did point out the error, but I understand where that came from! So funny... Really the kids are doing fine in school, though, it's just the occasional slip up..and it just strikes me so funny! :-)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
